2 sticks salted butter

3/4 cups extra dark cocoa powder or regular cocoa powder ( the dark cocoa flavor is almost like eating Oreos.. so if you like Oreos you will love it .. others use the other one*
2 1/4 cup brown sugar
*if you are using dark cocoa you need the extra sugar trust me .. if you are NOT using the dark cocoa and just regular cocoa please use 2 cups brown sugar.. you can also use 1 cup brown sugar and 3/4 cups white sugar.

2 eggs ( for cake brownies use 3 eggs)
1/4 hot water, hot coffee or whiskey.
3/4 cups all purpose flour for fudgy brownies ( for cake like brownies use 1 cup flour)
2 tsp vanilla extract ( or just wing it )
chocolate chips, chewy caramel candies , or canned caramel such as dolce de delche, or any thick caramel in a jar .. NOT syrup.
Toppings of choice to accommodate.
