Hello. Apple sauce is a great substitution for butter. We would recommend
using 1/2 apple sauce and 1/2 butter. Let us know how the brownies come out
    for you.

When i make this brownies,it seems that the top of it does not form some
sort of a crust. I used a 9×13 inch pan but its made out of glasses instead
of the one you used.Is it because of the pan ? or its because of my oven is
    not that hot ?

  18. ace sees on February 26, 2013: (Reply)

I made this today =D i did use apple sauce and used 1/4 cup less sugar it
was delish but not as rich as normal brownies but was still good =)

Thank you for your question. Every oven bakes slightly differently. You
might want to check the temperature of your oven to make sure it is
    accurate. Happy baking!

If you’re thinking about making this again (if you haven’t already), leave
out the baking powder and use only 2 eggs.

Hi. Can I use cake flour instead of all purpose flour that many recipes
    required?

  28. Allrecipes on June 3, 2013: (Reply)

Thank you for your question, Sabrina. For every cup of all purpose flour,
try using a cup of cake flour plus two tablespoons of cake flour. Let us
know how the recipe comes out – Happy baking!

Hello, wondering if I can substitute the butter for oil? I’m thinking
canola oil because it’s what we have on hand right now. Would it taste the
    same?

  36. Allrecipes on August 5, 2013: (Reply)

Thank you for your question. Yes, you can substitute oil for butter in this
recipe – canola or vegetable oil are both good options. Happy baking!

Can i use chocolate or chocolate syrup instead of coco powder?? Plzzz and
    back

  41. Allrecipes on September 2, 2013: (Reply)

Hi, thanks for your question. We wouldn’t recommend using chocolate syrup
in place of the cocoa powder, but you can try using unsweetened chocolate
    or carob powder.

Can i use dark chocolate instead of cocoa and how much chocolate

  55. Allrecipes on September 23, 2013: (Reply)

Thank you for your question, Pham! We’d recommend using the same amount of
melted chocolate – try and check the consistency. If the batter looks too
loose, add a little bit of flour. Enjoy!
