Pumpkin swirl layer:
1/2 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie spice)
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp ground cinnamon
3 tbsp white sugar
1 egg
3 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
Prepare a brownie mix according to package directions or us a from scratch recipe.
Prepare a 9×9″ baking dish or a 8×10″ baking dish by lining it with aluminum foil or baking paper and grease the paper/foil.
Spread about 3/4 of the brownie batter in the bottom of the pan.
Pour the pumpkin filling evenly on top.
Spoon the remaining brownie batter on top.
Swirl batters together with a butter knife to slightly blend them.
Bake at 350F for about 45 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
Cool, remove from pan using paper/foil and cut into squares.
